It was 109 years ago this week the RMS Titanic sunk in the North Atlantic after hitting an iceberg. As the ship was foundering, Fr. Thomas Byles heard confessions, said the Rosary, and led other prayers. Fr. Byles refused an offer to board a lifeboat, staying on the ship in order to assist others and died with more than 1500 others that night.
