2021 was a challenging year, but Archbishop Bernard Hebda of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis said he certainly saw the Lord’s abundant blessings bestowed on the faithful. When Archbishop Bernard Hebda launched the Archdiocesan Synod in 2019, he asked Catholics to reflect on the local Church’s strengths and challenges through 30 Prayer and Listening Events held across the 12-county area. More than 8,000 Catholics attended, providing more than 35,000 comments.

Bishop Andrew Cozzens began participating in a men’s small group back in his college days more than 30 years ago. Then throughout seminary, his years as a priest and now as a bishop, he has met at least monthly, often twice a month, with a small group of men who pray together, share faith and struggles, and support, encourage and challenge each other as they seek to grow in the Christian life.

This year, Pentecost will mark the beginning of the third and final year of our Archdiocesan Synod Process. We invite everyone to join us in invoking the Holy Spirit’s guidance for this third year at an outdoor Mass at St. Bonaventure in Bloomington at 6 p.m., Saturday, May 22. Since the beginning of the Synod process, I have been most excited about the step that will be happening this fall: Parish Consultation with Small Groups.
