Kidney donation a ‘rescue mission’ from God

After a fellow parishioner from St. Hubert in Chanhassen sent out a desperate email last winter pleading for a kidney donation to save her husband’s life, a series of events led Dave Hoffman to believe God was calling him on a “rescue mission.” In a short span of time, the 50-year-old father of two was at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester donating a kidney. “God is all over this,” said Hoffman, a tax manager at Cargill.

Archdiocesan Synod meant to ‘help us grow in unity and more vigorously proclaim the good news of Jesus’

On June 3-5, the three-year-long Archdiocesan Synod process culminates in an assembly of about 500 delegates from across the archdiocese. The roots of this synod in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis — the first in more than 80 years — go back to 2015, when Archbishop Bernard Hebda joined the archdiocese as temporary administrator, said Father Joseph Bambenek, the Synod’s assistant director.
