In a forthcoming book, Cardinal Robert Sarah, looks forward to the next conclave and hopes for a new “Gregorian reform.” That earlier movement was about holiness, “not of political power, but cultural. There reappears a new struggle between priesthood and empire. But the empire is now the relativist, hedonistic, and consumerist culture that has infiltrated everywhere.”
