The U.S. is among the most permissive nations on earth when it comes to the termination of a pregnancy, a fact that lawyers have argued in a case before the Supreme Court that could overturn Roe v. Wade. “The United States,” the lawyers’ brief states, “finds itself in the company of China and North Korea as some of the only countries that permit elective abortions after 20 weeks’ gestation.”
