The senior advancement officer at The Seminaries of St. Paul has been appointed as the first president of Plymouth-based Catholic Services Appeal Foundation, where he will lead CSAF’s annual appeal and partner with donors, parishes and ministry leaders to help ministries that serve the poor, support life and strengthen the faith.

“As St. John Paul II said, ‘put out into the deep,’ and it is with both joy and excitement that I begin this new voyage,” Tizoc Rosales said. “There are many reasons for hope in our local Catholic community and the CSAF helps make many of those hopes become a reality.”

Established in 2013, CSAF partners with parishes in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis to conduct a more than $9 million annual appeal to fund 20 designated ministries of the archdiocese, such as hospital and prison chaplaincies, Catholic Charities and college campus ministries.

Since 2014, Rosales has been senior advancement officer for the seminaries in St. Paul — St. John Vianney College Seminary and graduate-level The St. Paul Seminary, which both receive CSAF funding. During his tenure, the seminaries secured more than $40 million toward their joint strategic funding campaign.

“I am profoundly grateful for Tizoc’s leadership and diligence in building up our seminaries here in the Twin Cities,” Archbishop Bernard Hebda said. “And I am just as excited to see him begin his service as president of the Catholic Services Appeal Foundation, where he will continue to have a major impact on the work of our Church through his outreach and engagement.”

Yen Fasano, chair of CSAF’s board of directors, said Rosales has demonstrated an ability to connect with fellow believers in support of the local Church. “We are ecstatic to have his enthusiasm and mission-based leadership to serve CSAF and its strategic growth,” she said.

The seminaries’ vice president for institutional advancement, Tom Ryan, said Rosales will be missed.

“While it is always tough to say goodbye to someone like Tizoc, we are extremely proud and happy for him, his wife, Avenna, and their family,” he said.
