On Friday, July 16, Pope Francis issued new norms for the continued celebration of the Mass according to the Missal that had been used immediately before the reforms of the Second Vatican Council. The new norms, promulgated in a legislative document known as “Traditionis Custodes” (“Guardians of Tradition”), took effect that day.
