Bishops regret move toward legal abortion in Northern Ireland (Irish bishops’ conference)

The Catholic bishops of Northern Ireland have protested a “gravely disquieting” decision by the government to make abortion services available, beginning in March 2022. “Westminster has imposed an unjust law,” the bishops said. They charged that the move could “threaten the fragile balance of relationships at the heart of the Belfast Agreement” that brought peace to Northern Ireland.
