On the Solemnity of the Saints Apostles Peter and Paul, June 29, 2021, the Holy Father Francis blessed the pallia, taken from the Confession of the Apostle Peter and destined for the metropolitan archbishops appointed during the course of the year. The pallium will be imposed to each metropolitan archbishop by the papal representative in the respective metropolitan see. During the rite of the blessing of the pallia, the Pope presided at the Eucharistic celebration with the cardinals, metropolitan archbishops and bishops. As is customary on the occasion of the Feast of the Saints Apostles Peter and Paul, patrons of the city of Rome, the Holy Mass was attended by a delegation from the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, led by the metropolitan of Chalcedon, Emmanuel Adamakis, accompanied by the Greek Orthodox metropolitan of Buenos Aires, Iosif Bosch, and the Patriarchal deacon Barnabas Grigoriadis. During the Eucharistic celebration, after the Bible reading, the Holy Father delivered this homily.
