As the world grapples with the ongoing health emergency caused by COVID 19, the Vatican’s meditations for Advent, given by the Papal Household Preacher, Cardinal Raniero Cantalamessa, O.F.M. Cap., will take place in Paul VI Hall in order to keep the appropriate distance between the participants.

This was announced in a Dec. 1 note from the Prefecture of the Papal Household distributed to accredited journalists through the Holy See Press Office.

Taking place in the presence of Pope Francis, the medications’ theme this year is “Teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12).

The Advent sermons will take place at 9 am on the following Fridays: Dec. 4, Dec. 11, Dec. 18.

Invited are cardinals, archbishops, bishops and prelates of the ‘papal family,’ employees of the Roman Curia and of the Vicariate of Rome, superiors general or procurators of the religious orders that are part of the Pontifical Chapel.
