Bishop Nunzio Galantino, the president of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Holy See (APSA), has told journalists that funds from the Peter’s Pence collection were not used in the controversial London real-estate deal that has prompted a criminal probe. The funds, he said, came from a discretionary account for the Secretariat of State. He admitted that the funds were invested without proper approval or oversight, and that APSA later acted to help the Secretariat of State repay a loan used in the losing transaction.
