Resignation and appointment of bishop of Itapipoca, Brazil

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Itapipoca, Brazil, presented by Bishop Antônio Roberto Cavuto, O.F.M. Cap.

The Pope has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Itapipoca, Brazil, Bishop Rosalvo Cordeiro de Lima, currently titular of Castellum Tatroportus and auxiliary of Fortaleza.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Rosalvo Cordeiro de Lima was born on January 25, 1962, in União dos Palmares (Alagoas).

He studied philosophy at the Sagrado Coração de Jesus Seminary in Mogi das Cruzes, and theology at the Nossa Senhora da Assunção Faculty of Theology in São Paulo.

He was ordained a priest on November 1, 1992, in Arujá, diocese of Mogi das Cruzes.

Since priestly ordination he has held the following offices: parish vicar of Jesus Cristo Redentor do Homem, in Itaquaquecetuba (1992-1993); coordinator of Vocational Pastoral Care of the diocese of Mogi das Cruzes (1994-2000); parish administrator of Jesus Cristo Redentor do Homem (1994-1997); parish priest of São José in Salesópolis; and spiritual director of seminarians of Mogi das Cruzes (2000-2011).

On February 2, 2011, he was appointed as titular of Castellum Tatroportus and auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Fortaleza. Within the Episcopal Conference of the Nordeste I Region, he has served as member of the Commission for the Service of Charity, Justice, and Peace.

The Holy Father has appointed as Consultors of the Office of Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff the Reverends: Fr. Pietro Angelo Muroni, dean of the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical Urban University in Rome; and Sr. Katia De Simone, E.F., official of the Secretariat of State and expert in liturgy.
