The beatification of Knights of Columbus Founder Father Michael McGivney will be held on October 31, 2020, the Vatican has announced. It is expected that the ceremony will be held in Fr. McGivney’s native Connecticut.

The Vatican announced the approval of the beatification on May 27, 2020, following the Pope’s approval of promulgated decrees recognizing heroic virtues and miracles of different individuals, in a recent audience with Cardinal Giovanni Angelo Becciu, Prefect of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Causes of Saints.

Venerable Fr. McGivney, a Connecticut priest who launched an international lay movement, served his flock during the pandemic of 1890, before himself becoming ill and dying of pneumonia.
