For the third time since December, the non-profit Florentine “The Heart Melts” organization has donated food and blankets to the homeless in Rome.

On Wednesday, July 22, the association delivered to the Pope’s Almoner, Polish Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, merchandise loaded on a truck in response to his request to attend to the enormous need of people around Rome who have nothing to eat.

After last December and January’s deliveries, an additional 50 quintals of food, including pasta, milk, tuna and tomatoes arrived, as well as blankets to be delivered to the Pope’s charity.

Food was handed out this past Wednesday on the streets of the Italian capital, benefiting the homeless around Saint Peter’s, the Termini Station, and neighborhoods of the periphery, where the Cardinal is often seen working with his volunteers in the distribution of aid.

Thanks to the end of the lockdown, the volunteers have been able to go out on the street to take up their activities again, which the Vatican portal explains will be followed up “thanks to the non-profit organization’s spirit of initiative that in the last weeks has been distinguished for having provided — in collaboration with other acronyms — almost 200 tons of products for the most precarious areas of Tuscany.”
