The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Jorge Martín Torres Carbonell as bishop of the diocese of Gregorio de Laferrere, Argentina, transferring him from the office of titular bishop of Aquae in Byzacena and auxiliary of Lomas de Zamora.
Bishop Jorge Martín Torres Carbonell
Bishop Jorge Martín Torres Carbonell was born in Buenos Aires on April 22, 1954. He carried out his studies in theology and philosophy in the major seminary of Buenos Aires and received episcopal ordination on November 18, 1983.
He has served as parish vicar of the parish of San Cayetano in Belgrano, parish priest of the parishes of Santa Clara, Niño Jesùs, Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza and of the Shrine of San Cayetano, head of youth pastoral care of the archdiocese of Buenos Aires and of the pilgrimage to Luján, episcopal vicar for the Villas de Emergencia, dean and member of the presbyteral council.
On November 21, he was appointed as titular bishop of Aquae in Byzacena and auxiliary of Lomas de Zamora, receiving episcopal ordination on February 27, 2015.
Within the Argentine Episcopal Conference, he is a member of the Episcopal Commission for the liturgy and the Commission for social communication.
