Appointment of bishop of Fajardo-Humacao, Puerto Rico

The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Fajardo-Humacao, Puerto Rico, the Reverend Fr. Luis Miranda Rivera, O.Carm., episcopal vicar of the pastoral zone of San Juan-Santurce, and parish priest of the Santa Teresita parish of the archdiocese of San Juan de Puerto Rico.

Reverend Fr. Luis Miranda Rivera, O.Carm.

The Reverend Fr. Luis Miranda Rivera, O.Carm., was born on 24 January 1954 in Santurce, archdiocese of San Juan de Puerto Rico.

He entered the Order of Carmelites after completing his high school studies in Santurce. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Central University of Bayamón, Puerto Rico, and in theology at the Pontifical University of Salamanca, Spain.

In 1983 he gave his religious vows and in 1984 he was ordained a priest.

Since ordination he has served as deputy parish priest and parish priest in Madrid, Mayagüez and San Juan de Puerto Rico.

He is currently episcopal vicar of the pastors zone of San Juan-Santurce and parish priest of the Santa Teresita parish in Santurce. He is also a member of the presbyteral, pastoral and executive council of the archdiocese of San Juan de Puerto Rico.

 

Appointment of auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Portoviejo, Ecuador

The Holy Father has appointed as auxiliary of the metropolitan archdiocese of Portoviejo, Ecuador, the Reverend Vicente Horacio Saeteros Sierra, of the clergy of the same archdiocese, vicar general and parish priest of the cathedral, assigning him the titular see of Rusuccuru.

Reverend Vicente Horacio Saeteros Sierra

The Reverend Vicente Horacio Saeteros Sierra was born in Santa Ana, metropolitan archdiocese of Portoviejo, on 6 April 1968. He entered the major seminary of Portoviejo where he attended courses in philosophy and theology. He was ordained a priest on 25 March 2000 and incardinated in the metropolitan archdiocese of Portoviejo.

He was awarded a licentiate in Church history by the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome.

He has held the following offices: parish priest of various parishes; professor, formatter and rector of the archdiocesan seminary, and episcopal vicar of the Nord-Chone zone.

He is currently vicar general and parish priest of the cathedral.
