Saturday often is the neglected day of the Easter Triduum, a day between the Passion of Good Friday and the joyous resurrection of Easter. Pope Francis admitted as much in his homily at Saturday's Easter Vigil on April 11, 2020, but observed that this year is different. Of course, it was different in the obvious sense that the service was celebrated in a nearly empty St. Peter's Basilica, a result of the cautions surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. It was also an extraordinary situation in its reflection of what the followers of Christ experienced on the day between His crucifixion and resurrection. Those close to Jesus were in a moment of suffering; so are Christians today in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Both then and now there is "the right to hope".
