In the story of the raising of Lazarus, we find irony: the occasion of Jesus raising a man from the dead causes the Pharisees to plot His death. He who gives life must be put to death. We human beings are prone to becoming fodder for irony because we are so fickly and inconsistent; we often play into divine plans even as we resist them!
