According to research by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), within a generation, Iraq’s Christians have declined by 90 percent to below 250,000. Some reports suggest that the actual figure may be lower than 120,000. Were the Iran crisis to become protracted, bishops from the region believe that the consequences for Iraqi Christians would be potentially catastrophic.
