As visitors to St. Peter’s Square for Papal events can testify, an enthusiastic (but respectful) presence from a group may capture the Holy Father’s attention.

Such was the case at the noonday Angelus on Sunday, June 28, 2020, for a group from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

“I address my greeting to you all, those of you from Rome and pilgrims from Italy and from other countries,” Pope Francis said. “I can see German, Polish flags and so many others. In particular, I greet those who attended the Mass in Congolese rite this morning in Rome, praying for the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Congolese people are wonderful.”
