The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Sete Lagoas, Brazil, presented by Bishop Aloísio Jorge Pena Vitral.
The Pope has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Sete Lagoas, Brazil, Bishop Francisco Cota de Oliveira, transferring him from the titular see of Fiorentino and the office of auxiliary of Curitiba.

Bishop Francisco Cota de Oliveira was born on August 5, 1969, in Onça do Pitangui, diocese of Divinópolis, in the State of Minas Gerais. He carried out his studies in philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University in Belo Horizonte (1992-1994) and in theology at the Dom João Rezende Costa Institute of the archdiocese of Belo Horizonte (1995-1998).
On August 1, 1999, he was ordained a priest and incardinated in the diocese of Divinópolis, where he held the following offices: parish priest of Nossa Senhora do Carmo in Carmo do Cajuru-MG, of Sant’Ana in Itaúna-MG and of Nossa Senhora do Pilar in Pitangui-MG; diocesan counselor for youth; professor in the preparatory seminary, in the seminary of philosophy and in the theology course for the laity; vicar forane; promoter of Justice of the diocesan ecclesiastical tribunal; member of the Diocesan Council for Economic Affairs, and deputy diocesan bursar.
On June 7, 2017, he was appointed titular bishop of Fiorentino and auxiliary of Curitiba, and received episcopal ordination the following 26 August.
Within the Brazilian Episcopal Conference, he is a member of the Episcopal Pastoral Commission for Social and Transformative Action.
