For at least the third time in the past year, Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra—who coordinates the internal affairs of the Roman Curia, and is typically not involved in foreign relations—has traveled to a foreign country to inaugurate a nunciature.
The prelate also opened nunciatures in Armenia and the United Arab Emirates.
Archbishop Peña Parra’s visit to East Timor— announced well in advance of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, which Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States, attended—raises the international profile of the Venezuelan prelate.
