Pope Francis has accused the Church of genocide in Canada. If so, why evangelize? As Dr. Johnson (a sort of honorary Catholic) wrote in 1766 on the matter of spreading Christianity: “Let it . . . be remembered, that the efficacy of ignorance has long been tried, and has not produced the consequence expected. Let knowledge, therefore, take its turn . . .”
