Yesterday, Pope Francis issued the apostolic letter, Desiderio Desideravi, addressed to Catholic laity in which he insists again that only the so-called Mass of Paul VI is normative. “Let us abandon our polemics to listen together to what the Spirit is saying to the Church,” he writes, adding that “it would be trivial to read the tensions, unfortunately present around the celebration, as a simple divergence between different tastes concerning a particular ritual form.”
