A national Marian Blue Wave of pro-life prayers is washing over Minnesota this month, as Virginia-based American Life League seeks to end abortion across the nation.
The Catholic nonprofit urges prayers for a different state each month as it promotes life and seeks through prayer to close all abortion facilities, particularly targeting Planned Parenthood, which is the largest provider of abortions in America, said Katie Brown, director of the organization’s Blue Wave effort.
Planned Parenthood abortion centers in St. Paul and Minneapolis are among the abortion giant’s 34 largest facilities in the country, Brown said in a news release.
“The Marian Blue Wave has a prayer companion booklet that facilitates these prayers,” Brown said. “Loaded with devotional thoughts and prayers from life-affirming Catholic priests, the booklet is a tool to guide pro-life Catholics in their commitment to pray for an end to abortion.”
The abortion battle has been fought politically for more than 40 years, Brown said. “The Marian Blue Wave focuses on the true evil behind abortion, and rallies people together to fight that evil with our most powerful weapon — the holy rosary,” she said.
This month’s prayers come as a leaked draft opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court showed that the court appeared ready to overturn its Roe v. Wade decision of nearly 50 years ago legalizing abortion across the country. The high court is expected to make a final ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization in a matter of weeks. Even if Roe v. Wade is overturned, abortion would continue to be legal in Minnesota, where the Minnesota Constitution has been interpreted to grant a right to abortion equal to the right to bring a baby to term. Given current law in Minnesota, it could become a destination state for abortions in a post-Roe world, legal experts have said.
