The head of the Russian Orthodox Church said Sunday that a combatant who dies fighting Ukrainians “is sacrificing himself for others. And, therefore, we believe that this sacrifice cleanses away all of that person’s sins.” The Russian soldier he means, not the Ukrainian soldier or civilian.
