(ZENIT News / Vatican City, 18.09.2022).- Just a few months after completing the competition to design the Logo, we are now faced with the challenge of conceiving the official Hymn for Jubilee 2025. An International Competition for the musical composition of a Hymn expressing the essence of the Jubilee event has been announced by the Section for Fundamental Questions of Evangelization in the World of the Dicastery for Evangelization, to which Pope Francis has entrusted the organization of the upcoming Jubilee.
The Jubilee motto chosen by Pope Francis, “Pilgrims of Hope,” may inspire musicians all over the world to compose music that captures this particular theme. The Hymn must set to music the text proposed by the Dicastery, written in Italian by Pierangelo Sequeri. To participate, it is necessary to follow the Competition Regulations, which describe the specifications: for liturgical purposes, the possibility of being performed by a schola cantorum, as well as by a church assembly. The musical piece must be unpublished. Participation in the Competition is free and open to everyone.
The publication of the announcement, which marks the opening of the Competition, is scheduled for September 17, 2022. It can be accessed on the website www.iubilaeum2025.va/en/inno.html as well as on the Department’s webpage, www.pcpne.va. From January 16, 2023, it will be possible to upload the proposal on the specific page. The deadline for submission is March 25, 2023, by 8 p.m. (CET). The judging committee to be appointed at a later date will evaluate the proposals to select the music that will become the official Jubilee 2025 Hymn.
