Just in time for the start of a three-year National Eucharistic Revival, a film about four people’s life-changing experiences through adoration of the Eucharist will be in select theaters across the country, including the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.
The showings of “Alive” will include a bonus feature with Bishop Andrew Cozzens of Crookston, who is leading the Eucharistic Revival for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Until December, Bishop Cozzens was an auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese.
“The Eucharist means everything to me, because the Eucharist is Jesus, and Jesus means everything to me,” Bishop Cozzens says in the feature. “It’s not just that Jesus comes to me, but Jesus teaches me, in the Eucharist, how to live.”
The 7 p.m. June 21 showings of “Alive” also honor the feast of Corpus Christi, celebrated two days prior. The June 19 feast day celebration in the archdiocese this year includes the local launch of the National Eucharistic Revival with a eucharistic procession after the 10 a.m. Mass at the Cathedral of St. Paul in St. Paul.
In the archdiocese, the film can be seen at AMC Apple Valley 15 in Apple Valley, AMC Eden Prairie 18 in Eden Prairie and St. Michael Cinema in St. Michael. More details about the movie and tickets can be found at alivethemovement.com.
The movie debuted in more than 750 theaters across the United States in April. A poster for “Alive” states, “Back by popular demand.”
Catholic companies out of Spain produced and distribute the film. The producer is Hakuna Films, founded out of a group of young people who began to attend eucharistic adoration and compose music for the Holy Hours. After receiving testimonies of conversion that occurred through adoration of the Eucharist, the group created the film out of some of those stories.
The distributor of “Alive!” is Bosco Films of Madrid, a company founded in 2017 with the idea of bringing fresh air to the film industry, said Martha Calderon of Bosco Films, in an email interview. “It seeks films of high artistic quality, with stories that defend human values,” she said.
