Many today either dismiss judgment entirely or believe that judgment will result in instant entrance to glory. Sunday’s Gospel contains a necessary balance. It speaks of God’s enduring patience also of the day of reckoning when He will adjudicate our “case”: the decision will be final; there will be no turning back.
