In shocking and good news out of the Vatican, it was announced today:
On Friday 25 March, during the Celebration of Penance at which he will preside at 17.00 in Saint Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis will consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The same act, on the same day, will be carried out in Fatima by His Eminence Cardinal Krajewski, Apostolic Almoner, as envoy of the Holy Father.
The report from LifeSite continues:
Cardinal Krajewski, who will perform the consecration in Fatima on behalf of the Pope, has recently visited Ukraine as the Papal envoy during the current crisis, and spoke with the Ukrainian Catholic bishops. While in Lviv, Krajewski highlighted the power of prayer and faith to “move mountains” and to prevent the current conflict.
It is unclear to what extent the bishops of the world will be united to this consecration, but as our contributing editor Kennedy Hall observes, this is not entirely clear for “Fatimists” either, logistically. What we do know is that this is in response to the Ukrainian Bishops calling for this Consecration “as requested by Fatima” as we discussed last week.
“Ukraine” and “Russia”
We should observe here that “Kievan Rus” is the land first converted to the Catholic faith by St. Vladimir in 988, and from this motherland came these two Eastern Slavic Christendoms – Ukraine and Russia. In the baptism of their land, they are one people, divided by the ungodly Greek schisms and the “errors of Russia.”
Thus when Our Lady asked for the Consecration of Russia, perhaps Kiev was already included, and perhaps, as Dr. Mazza has suggested, the full Third Secret mentions Kiev. In any case we should rejoice but pray and fast fervently that this Consecration will be completed according to the intentions of Our Lady of Fatima.
The Intentions of Our Lady of Fatima
As many Catholics know, the message of Fatima was one of penance in the face of God’s furious wrath during the First World War. It was a warning to repent or another worse war would come about. We did not repent, and thus the Second World War happened. Our Lady of Fatima showed a vision of hell and spoke about the sins of impurity which have damned countless souls.
The “errors of Russia” which have spread – Soviet and Chinese Communism, western Marxism, Feminism, the plague of abortion, etc – have been the result of our lack of penance. Therefore the intentions of Our Lady of Fatima are clear: true repentance for our sins to turn away the wrath of God against nations and peoples.
Our Lady of Fatima seeks our repentance, and God in His Mercy is ready to save us.
March 25: A Day of Great Reverence
According to Catholic Tradition, March 25 has deep significance, as the Golden Legend relates:
This blessed Annunciation happened the twenty-fifth day of the month of March… On that same day Adam, the first man, was created and fell into original sin by inobedience, and was put out of paradise terrestrial. After, the angel showed the conception of our Lord to the glorious Virgin Mary. Also that same day of the month Cain slew Abel his brother. Also Melchisedech made offering to God of bread and wine in the presence of Abraham. Also on the same day Abraham offered Isaac his son. That same day St. John Baptist was beheaded, and St. Peter was that day delivered out of prison, and St. James the more, that day beheaded of Herod. And our Lord Jesu Christ was on that day crucified, wherefore that is a day of great reverence.
It was on October 31st, 1942 that Pius XII consecrated the world, which some think helped end World War II.
Then on July 7, 1952, Pius XII again consecrated the world and entrusted Russia to Mary’s Immaculate Heart. Some think this called further graces for the conversion of Russia from Communism.
But then on March 25th, 1984, John Paul II consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. And some think this led to the fall of Soviet Communism and ended the threat of nuclear war. The mainstream view holds that this was the “conversion of Russia” as prophesied by Fatima.
As Providence has it, this is also the death of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre on March 25th, 1991.
But now on March 25th, 2022, in the midst of a new war that threatens to become far worse than we can imagine, Pope Francis will consecrate Ukraine and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
It is obvious that this act will be united in some way to the intentions of Fatima, since the bishop of Fatima will do this as well. What is not clear is if this will fulfill perfectly the request of Fatima.
So we must pray.
JOIN the Novena!
I am calling all Catholics to begin the Novena for the Annunciation tomorrow that this Consecration will be completed according to “the intentions of Our Lady of Fatima.” This Novena is easily accessible on the Pray App or online. If you prefer some other Novena (the Immaculate Heart or Our Lady of Fatima), by all means pray it, but do so for the intentions of Fatima.
Call your bishop and ask him to join the Pope’s consecration according to Fatima. We know that God is merciful and hears our prayers, especially if we do so with Our Lady. Let us all join in praying this Novena which starts tomorrow, and hope against all hope that God will hear our cries and convert us and Russia, and bring peace.
