The Archdiocese of San Francisco will host an internationally-recognized liturgical conference this summer.
“The way generations of Catholics met Jesus in the Eucharist was through the power of reverent and beautiful liturgy to touch the Catholic imagination,” wrote Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone in a letter announcing the event.
“This Sacra Liturgia conference will be a major step forward in this mission of Eucharist renewal,” he said.
The fifth international Sacra Liturgia conference will take place June 28 to July 1 at Saint Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park.
It will feature speakers including Cardinal Robert Sarah, Cardinal George Pell, and the founder of the conference, Dom Alcuin Reid.
The conference will also include workshops for young vocalists and church musicians led by the former Master of Music at Westminster Cathedral, Martin Baker.
The closing Mass will take place at the historic Mission Dolores on the feast of Saint Junipero Serra. Serra founded Mission Dolores in 1776. The Mass will also feature newly commissioned music by Frank La Rocca, the composer-in-residence at the Benedict XVI Institute for Sacred Music and Liturgy.
2020 Super Bowl champion Harrison Butker is expected to speak at a reception following the closing Mass.
The Sacra Liturgia conference has previously been held in Rome, New York, London, and Milan. Registration for the 2022 conference is open and space is limited.
