As immigration to Spain has boomed, mostly from Latin America, the country’s traditional faith has declined. This is partly due to indifference among Catholics but also because so many of the immigrants are Protestant, including some who were formerly Catholic. It doesn’t help that in Spain’s 23,000 Catholic parishes, more than 6,000 have no full-time priest.
