A Kentucky bill requiring appropriate medical care for babies surviving attempted abortions became law on Friday. Gov. Andy Bashear, a Democrat, neither signed nor vetoed the “Born-Alive” bill that had passed the state legislature. The bill requires that infants who are born alive after an attempted abortion be given appropriate medical care. The governor’s inaction meant that the bill automatically became law — on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade.
