In a message addressed to the Italian Coldiretti Agricultural Association on December 15, 2020, Pope Francis encouraged the agricultural world for the economic recovery.
On the occasion of the assembly of Coldiretti’s territorial directorate, on the theme “Italy Restarts with the Heroes of Food” the Pope stressed “the determinant value of the agricultural and food-processing world for the economic and social recovery of the whole of Italy.”
In the message, signed by the Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, he expressed his “keen satisfaction” with this event, which “encourages all people of goodwill to reflect, even more, today, on the relation between man, nature and the Creator as the factor of profound balance and communion.”
The Pontiff invited also to seek “not of the logic of profit but of service, not of the exploitation of resources, but of care and attention to nature as welcoming home for all,” and to undertake “always new routes on the path of charity and solidarity for a global and truer response to the phenomenon of poverty and inequality between peoples.”
He concluded by invoking upon the participants “abundant heavenly gifts,” and expressed wishes “for peace and every good” for Christmas, “to the Secretary-General, to the Ecclesiastical Assistant, as well as to all the collaborators,” and “to all their relatives.”
