Resignation and appointment of bishop of Bluefields, Nicaragua
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Bluefields, Nicaragua, presented by Bishop Paul Ervin Schmitz SImon, O.F.M. Cap.
The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of the same diocese the Reverend Francisco José Tigerino Dávila, of the clergy of the diocese of León, until now rector of the Nacional Nuestra Señora de Fátima Interdiocesan Seminary in Managua.
Curriculum vitae
Bishop-elect Francisco José Tigerino Dávila was born on 18 October 1963 in Chinandega, diocese of León, Nicaragua. After his primary and secondary studies, from 1991 to 1993 he studied at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, United States of America, where he was awarded a bachelor’s degree in education. He also studied philosophy and theology at the Nuestra Señora de Fátima Interdiocesan National Seminary in Managua.
He was ordained a priest on 5 January 2002, and incardinated in the diocese of León.
Since ordination to the priesthood he has held the following offices: parish vicar of the Inmaculada Concepción in Villanueva, Chinandega (2002-2003); parish priest and rector of the Nuestro Señor de Milagros National Shrine in El Sauce (2003- 2009); member of the presbyteral council of the diocese of León (since 2005); secretary of the presbyteral council (2006-2008); spiritual director of the Nuestra Señora de Fátima Interdiocesan National Seminary, Managua (2009-2012); parish priest of San Blas a Chichigalpa, Chinandega (2013-2016); head of ongoing formation of the clergy of the diocese of León (since 2014); rector of the San Ramón diocesan college, León (2016-2017); rector of the Nuestra Señora de Fátima Interdiocesan National Seminary, Managua (since 2018 so far).
