Pope Francis is going to commemorate his 2013 visit to Lampedusa in a special way this year.
In a declaration from the Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, today, July 6, 2020, the Pontiff will celebrate a Mass this Wednesday in his private chapel at his residence Casa Santa Marta.
“On Wednesday 8 July 2020, at 11.00 a.m., on the anniversary of his visit to Lampedusa in 2013,” the statement began, “Pope Francis will celebrate Holy Mass in the Casa Santa Marta chapel.”
“Given the health situation, only the staff of the Migrants and Refugees Section of the Department for Promoting Integral Human Development will participate in the Mass,” it concluded.
Details were not given on whether the Mass could be followed via streaming, but if it will be possible, one can watch the Mass in its entirety on ZENIT’s Facebook page.
