Like Saint John the Baptist, “witness the Gospel with courage, beyond our differences, keeping harmony and friendship, which support the credibility of any proclamation of the faith.”

On the Solemnity of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, the Holy Father gave this encouragement at the end of his private, streamed General Audience, June 24, 2020 in the Library of the Apostolic Palace.

Continuing his catecheses on prayer, this Wednesday Francis focused on the prayer and history of King David: “holy and sinner, persecuted and persecutor, victim and executioner.”

David, the Jesuit Pope reflected, “teaches us to entrust everything in our dialogue with God,” in prayer, “as everything can become a word directed to the ‘You” who always listens to us.”

Pope Francis also prayed that faithful’s summers be “a time of serenity and a beautiful opportunity to contemplate God in the masterpiece of His creation.”
