Pope Francis, this Pentecost Sunday, will recite (from his usual window of the Apostolic Palace) the prayer of Regina Caeli with the faithful present in Saint Peter’s Square.
This appointment, marking the first time, the Pope will have not read his address from his private library since the lockdown, was announced by the Holy See Press Office, May 26.
“The police,” the note stated, “will guarantee safe access to the place and allow the faithful to respect the necessary interpersonal distance.”
For the first time since mid-March, people were present in St. Peter’s Square on May 24, Ascension Sunday. They could follow the words of Pope Francis and the prayer on giant screens, the Pope then came to bless them from the office window that overlooks the square.
Earlier on Pentecost Sunday, May 31, at 10 a.m., Pope Francis will celebrate Mass, without the participation of the faithful, in the Chapel of the Holy Sacrament in St. Peter’s Basilica.
