Taking up the proposal and request of many of the faithful, the Italian Episcopal Conference entrusts the entire country to the protection of the Mother of God as a sign of salvation and of hope. It will do so on Friday, May 1 at 9:00 pm, with a moment of prayer in the Basilica of Santa Maria del Fonte at Caravaggio, diocese of Cremona, province of Bergamo.
The choice of the date and the place is extremely symbolic. May is, in fact, the month traditionally dedicated to Our Lady, time marked by the prayer of the Rosary, of pilgrimages to shrines, of the need to turn with special prayers to the intercession of the Virgin. To begin this month with the Act of Entrustment to Mary, in the present situation, acquires an altogether particular meaning for the whole of Italy.
The place, Caravaggio, situated in the diocese of Cremona and the province of Bergamo, encloses in itself the suffering and pain lived in a land harshly tried by the health emergency. The Church entrusts to Our Lady the sick, the health workers and doctors, the families <and> the deceased.
On the feast of Saint Joseph the Worker, husband of the Virgin Mary, it entrusts, in particular, the workers, aware of the worries and fears with which so many look to the future.
