I was thinking out loud the other day. I wrote a limerick about the possibility we might be taking the wrong course of action by shutting down everything.
My grandkids (son and brother too) jumped in and went on a roll. Proud of these smart and savvy homeschoolers — enjoy!
I started out with this one:
“China started a sickness contagious,
The countries responded outrageous,
They locked us away
so we all lost our pay,
And the cure was disadvantageous.”
My brother Tim:
They say that it started in Wuhan.
On the skin of the rats, it grew on.
They ate them fried,
and most of them died
Now the world has gone to ruin.
Grandson Damian (15 years old):
Corona has wreaked a pandemic,
It causes the countries to panic.
It shortens the breath,
and all men fear death
cause God is not known in the havoc
Grandson Dominic (17 years old)
“Freak out and run for your lives
Only congregate in fives
Buy all the sanitizer,
and you’ll be the wiser”
On these things the media thrives!”
“In the midst of delirium
Bow before the imperium
beg and plead,
hope they’ll concede
To quickly find a serum”
My son Jesse:
“The virus made everyone scared,
except for those who prepared.
But it won’t matter much,
cause we’re all sitting ducks
When those who have less become flared.”
Granddaughter Maria Faustina (15):
What is More Dangerous than Coronavirus?
When men are afraid
they’ll trade freedom for aid
and that’s when things turn communist.”
“While some fling their hands up in despair,
feeling powerless in the general scare,
there are those who hold strong
though the storm rages on
for they know the Power of Prayer.”
Grandson Joshua (17 years old):
“This catastrophe must be Trump’s fault,
“He screwed up his job” they all cry.
But Trump fights day and night
To secure all our rights,
Fake news can do nothing but lie.”
My conclusion:
“I’ve got the smartest grandkids ever,
Perceptive and wise and exceedingly clever,
The look on the scene
The lines read between
And we stand in the truth altogether!”
