59 Sisters Test Positive to COVID19 in Two Convents In & Near Rome

Fifty-nine nuns have tested positive for Covid-19, between two convents, in and near Rome, reported ANSA.

According to Italy’s principal news ageny, the two convents, one in Grottaferrata, outside the capital, and another in Rome, on Via Casilina, were isolated on March 20 after the nearly sixty religious sisters tested positive for coronavirus.

The Daughter of San Camillo at Grottaferrata, in the Castelli Romani, was the first convent closed down after 40 nuns there tested positive.

The Congregation of Angelic Sisters of San Paolo on Rome’s Via Casilina was the next convent affected, after 19 of the convent’s 21 religious sisters tested positive.

To date, there have been more than 5,000 deaths in Italy from the contagious disease.
