Papal advice: Hail Marys and humor

Last month, the seminarians from Region 8 (Minnesota and the Dakotas) had the privilege of joining Archbishop Hebda, Bishop Cozzens, and the region’s other bishops for the beginning of their meeting with Pope Francis in the Apostolic Palace. After greeting each of us individually, the Holy Father shared some spiritual guidance with the gathered seminarians. “Keep your sense of humor, pray your rosary, and stay close to the Madonna,” he told us, before giving us his blessing.

Epiphany’s universal call continues

Every year, by the grace of God, the gift of Christmas takes hold of me more completely. As my understanding of the Incarnation deepens and my gratitude for all God has done in my life grows, it becomes increasingly impossible to make sense of my life, who I am and what I am doing here, apart from the great love revealed and given in Christ’s incarnation. My life is a question that is incoherent and meaningless apart from the answer that is Jesus.
